The Mediterranean civilization has always considered the olive-tree sacred and its fruit, known as “green gold”, wasn’t only used as food but also in religious rituals: the Egyptians considered it a gift from the gods; the Phoenicians made it their most important commercial product; the Greeks and the Romans used it as a medicine because of its healing powers and as fuel for votive lamps. Today the Jews still “anoint” their King and the Christians use it in significant rites as the Christening and the Confirmation.

Olive oil is one of our most representative products. It’s one of the basic ingredients of the Mediterranean cuisine and since a couple of years it is also reconsidered for its therapeutic characteristics. Its composition is, indeed, very balanced and very close to the needs of the human organism.
